PGRO has specialised trials equipment for sowing and harvesting of both vegetable and pulse crops and modern, comprehensively equipped laboratories for the processing of trials produce, seed testing and the diagnosis of pests, diseases and disorders and herbicide damage.

The Processing Laboratory has equipment for the canning and quick-freezing of produce from variety and agrochemical trials. Produce from variety trials is demonstrated to the industry on Processors' Days and samples are also available for processors' own inspection.  PGRO has 2 Martin Pea Tenderometers and a Dodman Tenderometer for the assessment of maturity of vining peas and these are located in an area next to the Processing Laboratory.  A "Master" tenderometer service is provided for the calibration of commercial machines.

PGRO has laboratories equipped for seed testing and diagnostic facilities for plant diseases and disorders.

The Organisation has a modern glasshouse complex so that plants can be grown throughout the year for a range of purposes, including the final stages of disease identification, studies of varietal purity and the soil-borne disease test.

Finally, PGRO has a small conference centre comprising a main room suitable for conferences, seminars, training events etc.  with a smaller meeting room adjoining.  These facilities are used for PGRO's own events but are available for hire by others throughout the year.  For details, see Conference Centre, under the heading of Services.
