PULSE MARKETS
Trade estimates indicate that
the market for UK pulses is for about 2.23 million tonnes per annum, while
the 2007 production was only about 0.43 million tonnes. There is
therefore scope for expansion to replace imports and develop exports for
value-added products. The range of pulse markets serviced by the UK
trade, with an estimate of 2007 production, is given below.
