Seed Testing

The PGRO laboratory is a well equipped seed testing lab.

In conjunction with the glasshouse complex, seed lab facilities and trained seed analysts, the team carry out a range of seed tests for the crop research and private seed testing contracts.

Specialist tests are offered for seed Quality, seed Vigour and seed Health.

Fungal diseases:
Hollow heart / Marsh Spot - Peas disorders
Pea foot rot
Bacterial diseases: including Bacterial blight (Pseudomonas syringae pv pisi) and Halo blight (Pseudomonas syringae pv phaseolicola)
Viruses: Pea Seed-borne Mosaic Virus (PSbMV)

Pests: including Stem and Bulb nematode – Beans Thousand seed weight evaluation
Moisture content Waste and stain evaluation.
