Pea and Bean Open Day

The open day will be showcasing PGRO’s work with beans and combining peas, as well as Descriptive List and National List trials.

We will be presenting PGRO’s work on the challenges around growing, protecting, and harvesting intercrops of winter beans and winter wheat, beans and oats, and vining peas and oats.

Also being run are lentil trials, which the PGRO have been growing since 2020 to establish the viability of UK lentil production and identify varieties of interest.

Other trials of interest will include a look at mechanical harrowing in combining peas as a tool to reduce herbicide use, and the use of Biostimulants when establishing the crop.

Experts in pulse diseases and crop pests will also be showcasing their work.

Attendance is free and no pre-booking is required. Visitors are welcome to the site from 9am.
